Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Portrait of a girl, full-length, in a blue dress and red wrap, with a white bonnet and pearl necklace, holding a peach in her left hand, with a dog, in a landscape with the ruins of the Colosseum beyond by Christoffel Pierson was sold in the Old Masters, 19th Century and Impressionist Art auction at Christies in Amsterdam in May 2014. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of EUR 10,000.00 – 15,000.00, the actual price achieved of EUR 11,250.00 could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Christoffel Pierson achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work A trompe l'oeil of hunting equipment in October 2001 with an auction result of USD 143,500.00 (€ 159,568.55).

Die Arbeit Portrait of a girl, full-length, in a blue dress and red wrap, with a white bonnet and pearl necklace, holding a peach in her left hand, with a dog, in a landscape with the ruins of the Colosseum beyond von Christoffel Pierson wurde im Mai 2014 in der Auktion Old Masters, 19th Century and Impressionist Art bei Christies in Amsterdam versteigert. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von EUR 10.000,00 – 15.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von EUR 11.250,00 konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Christoffel Pierson erzielen.
