This artwork by Christoffel Pierson achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in July 2012. In the Old Master & British Paintings Day Sale auction, the work A trompe l'oeil of gaming equipment, with nets, falconry hoods, bird cages, a hunting horne and a glove, hanging on a wall, with a bust in a sculpted niche sold for GBP 97,250.00 (€ 123,870.36) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 50,000.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Christoffel Pierson; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot A trompe l'oeil of hunting equipment sold at auction in October 2001 with the realized price of USD 143,500.00 (€ 159,568.55).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 95 % übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Christoffel Pierson erzielte im Juli 2012 bei Christies in London einen unerwartet hohen Preis.
