Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Grace Jones with Leopard, 1977 by Chris von Wangenheim was auctioned at Christies in New York in October 2005, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 3,000.00 – 4,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 2,880.00 (€ 2,401.00). Admittedly, works by Chris von Wangenheim have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Lisa Taylor, Publicité pour Christian Dior, 1976 in June 2019 with an auction result of EUR 23,750.00.
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Grace Jones with Leopard, 1977 von Chris von Wangenheim im Oktober 2005 bei Christies in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 3.000,00 – 4.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 2.880,00 (€ 2.401,00) den Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Chris von Wangenheim auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Lisa Taylor, Publicité pour Christian Dior, 1976 im Juni 2019 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von EUR 23.750,00.
