Artwork auctioned at three times the upper estimate price
When the work Straatje in Valkenburg by Chris van der Windt was auctioned at Christies in Amsterdam in March 2001, the result exceeded expectations many times over. The upper estimate was set at a - in retrospect quite modest - NLG 2,000.00 but the actual price achieved was more than three times as high at NLG 6,462.50 (€ 2,993.15). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Chris van der Windt - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work A stilllife with Chinese porcelain, which sold at auction in September 2002 for EUR 8,365.00.
Kunstwerk zum Dreifachen des oberen Schätzpreises versteigert
Als die Arbeit Straatje in Valkenburg von Chris van der Windt im März 2001 bei Christies in Amsterdam versteigert wurde, übertraf das Ergebnis die Erwartungen um ein Vielfaches. Der obere Schätzpreis war mit – rückwirkend betrachtet recht bescheidenen – NLG 2.000,00 angesetzt, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis hingegen war mit NLG 6.462,50 (€ 2.993,15) mehr als dreimal so hoch. Für andere Arbeiten von Chris van der Windt mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit A stilllife with Chinese porcelain beobachtet, die im September 2002 für EUR 8.365,00 versteigert wurde.
