In October 2018 Sothebys in New York held the auction Photographs, which included the work On The Heavy Bag (Muhammad Ali Training At The 5Th Street Gym, Before His First Fight With Joe Frazier) by Chris Smith. The »bidding war« ended at USD 15,000.00 (€ 13,236.85), 67% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Chris Smith - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Ali And The Beatles, 1964, which sold at auction in September 2018 for GBP 43,750.00 (€ 49,136.87).

Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 15.000,00 (€ 13.236,85) und damit 67% über dem oberen Schätzpreis.
