Die Arbeit 'Headguard' von Chris Smith kam im Oktober 2021 bei Sothebys in New York zur Auktion. Sie erzielte dabei einen Preis von USD 12.600,00 (€ 10.907,20) und übertraf damit das obere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne um 40%. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Chris Smith auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Ali And The Beatles, 1964 im September 2018 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 43.750,00 (€ 49.136,87).
