Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Cmyk - Conte Moral Pour Haute Culture (Cmyk - Moral Tale For High Culture) by Cheyney Thompson was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in December 2019, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 8,000.00 – 12,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 6,875.00 (€ 6,123.63). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Cheyney Thompson achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Chronochrome II in May 2015 with an auction result of USD 317,000.00 (€ 288,339.09).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Cmyk - Conte Moral Pour Haute Culture (Cmyk - Moral Tale For High Culture) von Cheyney Thompson im Dezember 2019 bei Sothebys in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 8.000,00 – 12.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 6.875,00 (€ 6.123,63) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Cheyney Thompson erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Chronochrome II im Mai 2015 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 317.000,00 (€ 288.339,09).
