Artwork auctioned at four times the upper estimate price
When the work Monkeys In Mountain by Cheng Zhang was auctioned at China Guardian in Hong Kong in April 2015, the result exceeded expectations many times over. The upper estimate was set at a - in retrospect quite modest - HKD 12,000.00 but the actual price achieved was more than four times as high at HKD 57,500.00 (€ 6,645.31). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Cheng Zhang - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Squirrels And Grapes, which sold at auction in November 2013 for HKD 275,000.00 (€ 26,073.06).
Kunstwerk zum Vierfachen des oberen Schätzpreises versteigert
Als die Arbeit Monkeys In Mountain von Cheng Zhang im April 2015 bei China Guardian in Hong Kong versteigert wurde, übertraf das Ergebnis die Erwartungen um ein Vielfaches. Der obere Schätzpreis war mit – rückwirkend betrachtet recht bescheidenen – HKD 12.000,00 angesetzt, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis hingegen war mit HKD 57.500,00 (€ 6.645,31) mehr als viermal so hoch. Für andere Arbeiten von Cheng Zhang mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Squirrels And Grapes beobachtet, die im November 2013 für HKD 275.000,00 (€ 26.073,06) versteigert wurde.
