Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Reflection by Chen Yifei was auctioned at Christies in Hong Kong in November 2018, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of HKD 2,300,000.00 – 3,300,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for HKD 2,250,000.00 (€ 253,952.13). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Chen Yifei achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Beauties on Promenade in May 2018 with an auction result of HKD 83,350,000.00 (€ 9,106,362.47).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Reflection von Chen Yifei im November 2018 bei Christies in Hong Kong versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von HKD 2.300.000,00 – 3.300.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für HKD 2.250.000,00 (€ 253.952,13) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Chen Yifei erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Beauties on Promenade im Mai 2018 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von HKD 83.350.000,00 (€ 9.106.362,47).
