This artwork by Chen Da achieved an unexpectedly high price at Bonhams in New York in September 2021. In the The Reverend Richard Fabian Collection of Chinese Paintings and Calligraphy III auction, the work Golden Valleys And Snowy Passes, 1954 sold for USD 19,062.50 (€ 16,465.84) - well above the upper estimate of USD 7,000.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Chen Da; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Landscape After Qiu Ying sold at auction in September 2013 with the realized price of USD 40,000.00 (€ 29,553.01).
