Description
CHAU HANG (B. 1962) Lotus in Autumn Scroll, mounted and framed, ink and colour on paper 68.5 x 34 cm. (27 x 13 3 ⁄ 8 in.) Signed, with two seals of the artist NOTE: Chau Hang, the grandson of Zhao Shao’ang (1905-1998), has accumulated many awards in calligraphy and painting competitions throughout Hong Kong and China. He is currently the Honorary President of the Lingnan Branch of the Chinese Academy of Chinese Painting and the Chairman of the Hong Kong Lingnan Art Association.
Auction result well in line with expectations
In August this year Christies in New York held the auction Summer Reverie: Chinese Paintings Online, which included the work Lotus in Autumn by Chau Hang. The price achieved of HKD 27,720.00 (€ 3,260.73) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as HKD 20,000.00 – 40,000.00. Other works by Chau Hang have already achieved higher auction prices, for example, in September last year the work Cicada was auctioned for HKD 35,280.00 (€ 4,590.76).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im August diesen Jahres führte Christies in New York die Auktion Summer Reverie: Chinese Paintings Online durch, in der auch die Arbeit Lotus in Autumn von Chau Hang zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von HKD 27.720,00 (€ 3.260,73) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit HKD 20.000,00 – 40.000,00 angegeben worden. Andere Arbeiten von Chau Hang konnten bereits höhere Auktionspreise erzielen, so wurde im September letzten Jahres die Arbeit Cicada für HKD 35.280,00 (€ 4.590,76) versteigert.
