This artwork by Chau Hang achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in December 2021. In the Exquisite Eye: Chinese Paintings Online including the Collection of Sun Ah Book Center auction, the work Gingko and Bird sold for HKD 37,500.00 (€ 4,247.66) - well above the upper estimate of HKD 20,000.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Chau Hang; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Cicada sold at auction in September last year with the realized price of HKD 35,280.00 (€ 4,590.76).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 88 % übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Chau Hang erzielte im Dezember 2021 bei Christies einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Exquisite Eye: Chinese Paintings Online including the Collection of Sun Ah Book Center wurde die Arbeit Gingko and Bird für HKD 37.500,00 (€ 4.247,66) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von HKD 20.000,00. Trotz des guten Ergebnisses ist dies nicht der höchste Zuschlag für ein Kunstwerk von Chau Hang; den erzielte unter den von uns beobachteten Auktionen die Arbeit Cicada im September letzten Jahres mit dem Hammerpreis von HKD 35.280,00 (€ 4.590,76).
