Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work The Chalet, Rudyard Lake, Macclesfield; A Bend In The River Goyt, Macclesfield; And Lonely Tree, Macclesfield by Charles Williams was auctioned at Christies in London in January 2008, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 300.00 – 500.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 275.00 (€ 368.65). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Charles Williams achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work View of Openshaw And Clayton From The Studio in January 2008 with an auction result of GBP 5,000.00 (€ 6,702.72).
