Auction result well in line with expectations
In July 2018 Sothebys in London held the auction Victorian, Pre-Raphaelite & British Impressionist Art, which included the work The First Music Lesson by Charles West Cope. The price achieved of GBP 10,000.00 (€ 11,212.20) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 8,000.00 – 12,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Charles West Cope - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work The Awakening Of King Lear By The Kiss Of Cordelia, which sold at auction in May 2013 for GBP 32,500.00 (€ 37,997.57).
