Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Laguna de Bay, Philippines by Charles William Andrews was sold in the Travel, Science and Natural History auction at Christies in London in April 2012. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 3,000.00 – 4,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 3,250.00 (€ 3,986.03) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Charles William Andrews achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Parade Ground, by Murray Barracks, Hong Kong, with horses paraded along Queen's Road, the cricket ground and a view across the harbour to Kowloon beyond in September 2007 with an auction result of GBP 38,900.00 (€ 55,779.74).
