Auction result well in line with expectations
In November 2018 Sothebys in New York held the auction American Art, which included the work Prelude To Winter by Charles Sheeler. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 600,000.00 – 800,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 615,000.00 (€ 543,142.28) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Charles Sheeler - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work White Sentinels, which sold at auction in May 2018 for USD 2,232,500.00 (€ 1,913,024.85).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im November 2018 führte Sothebys in New York die Auktion American Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Prelude To Winter von Charles Sheeler zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 600.000,00 – 800.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 615.000,00 (€ 543.142,28) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Für andere Arbeiten von Charles Sheeler mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit White Sentinels beobachtet, die im Mai 2018 für USD 2.232.500,00 (€ 1.913.024,85) versteigert wurde.
