The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 3,000.00 – 5,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 3,346.00 (€ 4,813.20) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Even if this result could not surprise positively, L'Histoire De Paul Et Virginie, After J. F. Schall (Nevill 121; Portalis & Beraldi I, 8) is the most expensive artwork by Charles-Melchior Descourtis that we have observed at auctions so far.
