Auction result well in line with expectations
In January last year Christies in New York held the auction Old Master & British Drawings, which included the work An artist sketching and other figures among the ruins of the Temple of Diana at Nîmes (recto); Sketch of the Maison Carrée at Nîmes (verso) by Charles-Louis Clérisseau. The price achieved of USD 25,000.00 (€ 22,297.54) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 20,000.00 – 30,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Charles-Louis Clérisseau - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Interiors of a Roman basilica with figures, which sold at auction in December 2010 for GBP 51,650.00 (€ 59,913.84).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Januar letzten Jahres führte Christies in New York die Auktion Old Master & British Drawings durch, in der auch die Arbeit An artist sketching and other figures among the ruins of the Temple of Diana at Nîmes (recto); Sketch of the Maison Carrée at Nîmes (verso) von Charles-Louis Clérisseau zur Versteigerung kam.
