The work An architectural capriccio with a colonnade and two groups of figures sitting and working in the ruins by Charles-Louis Clérisseau was sold in the Old Master & British Drawings auction at Christies in New York in January last year. The result of USD 20,000.00 (€ 17,838.03) was exactly at the lower end of the estimate range of USD 20,000.00 – 30,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Charles-Louis Clérisseau - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Interiors of a Roman basilica with figures, which sold at auction in December 2010 for GBP 51,650.00 (€ 59,913.84).

Die Arbeit An architectural capriccio with a colonnade and two groups of figures sitting and working in the ruins von Charles-Louis Clérisseau wurde im Januar letzten Jahres in der Auktion Old Master & British Drawings bei Christies in New York versteigert. Das dabei erzielte Ergebnis von USD 20.000,00 (€ 17.838,03) entsprach exakt dem unteren Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von USD 20.000,00 – 30.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von Charles-Louis Clérisseau mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Interiors of a Roman basilica with figures beobachtet, die im Dezember 2010 für GBP 51.650,00 (€ 59.913,84) versteigert wurde.
