When the work In the Shade, Biskra by Charles James Theriat was auctioned at Christies in New York in October 2007, the result exceeded expectations many times over. The upper estimate was set at a - in retrospect quite modest - USD 7,000.00 but the actual price achieved was more than five times as high at USD 37,000.00 (€ 25,573.68). Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Charles James Theriat; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot American Playing The Derbakeh, Biskra sold at auction in March 2009 with the realized price of USD 50,000.00 (€ 37,704.55).

Als die Arbeit In the Shade, Biskra von Charles James Theriat im Oktober 2007 bei Christies in New York versteigert wurde, übertraf das Ergebnis die Erwartungen um ein Vielfaches.
