The »bidding war« ended at USD 28,000.00 (€ 17,985.61), 40% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Charles James Theriat - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work American Playing The Derbakeh, Biskra, which sold at auction in March 2009 for USD 50,000.00 (€ 37,704.55).
