Auction result well in line with expectations
In June 2003 Christies in London held the auction AT HOME-BRITISH AND CONTINENTAL PICTURES AND WORKS ON PAPER, which included the work The weir by Charles James Lewis. The price achieved of GBP 94.00 (€ 135.08) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 25.00 – 200.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Charles James Lewis achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work A Woodland Ramble "When daisies pied and violets blue And Lady-smocks all silver white, and cuckoo buds of yellow hue" - William Shakespeare, Love's Labour's Lost, Act V, Scene 2 in November 2007 with an auction result of GBP 48,500.00 (€ 67,912.55).
Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit A Woodland Ramble "When daisies pied and violets blue And Lady-smocks all silver white, and cuckoo buds of yellow hue" - William Shakespeare, Love's Labour's Lost, Act V, Scene 2 im November 2007 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 48.500,00 (€ 67.912,55).
