Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Feeding the ducks by Charles James Lewis was sold in the At Home-British and Continental Pictures and Works on Paper auction at Christies in London in October 2003. The price achieved of GBP 822.50 (€ 1,201.34) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 700.00 – 900.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Charles James Lewis achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work A Woodland Ramble "When daisies pied and violets blue And Lady-smocks all silver white, and cuckoo buds of yellow hue" - William Shakespeare, Love's Labour's Lost, Act V, Scene 2 in November 2007 with an auction result of GBP 48,500.00 (€ 67,912.55).
