Auction result well in line with expectations
The work A Prince Of Court Painters (No. 1) by Charles Demuth was sold in the American Art auction at Sothebys in New York in September 2020. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 15,000.00 – 25,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 16,380.00 (€ 13,978.49) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Charles Demuth achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work In The Key Of Blue in December 2013 with an auction result of USD 1,685,000.00 (€ 1,222,875.39).
