Auction result well in line with expectations
In May last year Sothebys in New York held the auction Belle Époque Splendor: The Discerning Eye of a Collector, which included the work Wishful Thinking by Charles Courtney Curran. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 25,000.00 – 35,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 25,200.00 (€ 23,483.37) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by Charles Courtney Curran have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Ladies on a Hill in April 2002 with an auction result of USD 207,500.00 (€ 230,504.33).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Mai letzten Jahres führte Sothebys in New York die Auktion Belle Époque Splendor: The Discerning Eye of a Collector durch, in der auch die Arbeit Wishful Thinking von Charles Courtney Curran zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 25.000,00 – 35.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 25.200,00 (€ 23.483,37) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Charles Courtney Curran auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Ladies on a Hill im April 2002 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 207.500,00 (€ 230.504,33).
