Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Children By The Seashore by Charles Courtney Curran was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in February 2019. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 100,000.00 – 150,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 112,500.00 (€ 98,866.33) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Charles Courtney Curran - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Ladies on a Hill, which sold at auction in April 2002 for USD 207,500.00 (€ 230,504.33).
