Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work On The Beach, Lake Erie by Charles Courtney Curran was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in May 2008, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 50,000.00 – 70,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 46,000.00 (€ 29,562.98). Admittedly, works by Charles Courtney Curran have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Ladies on a Hill in April 2002 with an auction result of USD 207,500.00 (€ 230,504.33).
