Auction result well in line with expectations
In November 2011 Sothebys in New York held the auction 19th Century European Art, which included the work Britishthe New Whip by Charles Burton Barber. The price achieved of USD 194,500.00 (€ 144,577.42) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 175,000.00 – 225,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Charles Burton Barber - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work In Disgrace, which sold at auction in June 2007 for GBP 322,400.00 (€ 478,425.38).
