Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
The work British once Bit, Twice Shy by Charles Burton Barber was sold in the 19th Century European Art including an Important Collection of Sculpture auction at Sothebys in New York in May 2011. Here, the upper estimate of USD 200,000.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for USD 206,500.00 (€ 143,642.18). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Charles Burton Barber - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work In Disgrace, which sold at auction in June 2007 for GBP 322,400.00 (€ 478,425.38).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Die Arbeit British once Bit, Twice Shy von Charles Burton Barber wurde im Mai 2011 in der Auktion 19th Century European Art including an Important Collection of Sculpture bei Sothebys in New York versteigert. Dabei wurde der obere Schätzpreis von USD 200.000,00 leicht übertroffen – das Kunstwerk fand für USD 206.500,00 (€ 143.642,18) einen neuen Besitzer. Für andere Arbeiten von Charles Burton Barber mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit In Disgrace beobachtet, die im Juni 2007 für GBP 322.400,00 (€ 478.425,38) versteigert wurde.
