In December 2015 Christies in London held the auction Victorian, Pre-Raphaelite & British Impressionist Art; Maritime Art; Sporting & Wildlife Art, which included the work A Small Man-O'War At Anchor With Cutters Under Sail by Charles Brooking. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 9,375.00 (€ 12,730.80), 17% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Charles Brooking have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Men-O'-War Reefed-Down And Riding Out A Gale in June 2014 with an auction result of GBP 68,500.00 (€ 85,587.47).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Im Dezember 2015 führte Christies in London die Auktion Victorian, Pre-Raphaelite & British Impressionist Art; Maritime Art; Sporting & Wildlife Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit A Small Man-O'War At Anchor With Cutters Under Sail von Charles Brooking zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 9.375,00 (€ 12.730,80) und damit 17% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Charles Brooking auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Men-O'-War Reefed-Down And Riding Out A Gale im Juni 2014 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 68.500,00 (€ 85.587,47).
