This artwork by Charles Brooking achieved an unexpectedly high price at Bonhams in London in October last year. In the The Marine Sale auction, the work Shipping in a gentle breeze sold for GBP 10,837.50 (€ 12,625.57) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 6,000.00. Admittedly, works by Charles Brooking have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Men-O'-War Reefed-Down And Riding Out A Gale in June 2014 with an auction result of GBP 68,500.00 (€ 85,587.47).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 81 % übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Charles Brooking erzielte im Oktober letzten Jahres bei Bonhams in London einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion The Marine Sale wurde die Arbeit Shipping in a gentle breeze für GBP 10.837,50 (€ 12.625,57) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von GBP 6.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Charles Brooking auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Men-O'-War Reefed-Down And Riding Out A Gale im Juni 2014 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 68.500,00 (€ 85.587,47).
