Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
In May 2020 Sothebys in London held the auction Old Masters including Portrait Miniatures from the Pohl-Ströher Collection, which included the work Frigates Shortening Sails Offshore by Charles Brooking. Here, the upper estimate of GBP 18,000.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for GBP 18,750.00 (€ 20,814.56). Admittedly, works by Charles Brooking have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Men-O'-War Reefed-Down And Riding Out A Gale in June 2014 with an auction result of GBP 68,500.00 (€ 85,587.47).
