Auction result well in line with expectations
In November 2007 Christies in London held the auction The Gordon Collection of Portrait Miniatures, which included the work A young gentleman, in brown silk cloak, white lace cravat, long curling brown hair by Charles Beale Junior. The price achieved of GBP 9,375.00 (€ 13,127.43) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 8,000.00 – 12,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Charles Beale Junior - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Two portrait studies of children, bust-length, which sold at auction in June 2004 for GBP 33,460.00 (€ 49,798.50).
