Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%
This artwork by Chant Avedissian achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in London in October 2010. In the Contemporary Art / Arab & Iranian auction, the work Umm Kalthoum - Sit El Kul (Umm Kalthoum - People'S Lady) sold for GBP 27,500.00 (€ 31,707.93) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 12,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Chant Avedissian achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Icons Of The Nile in April 2013 with an auction result of USD 1,565,000.00 (€ 1,188,487.24).
