In March this year Phillips in London held the auction 20th Century & Contemporary Art Evening Sale, which included the work Skulldiver II by Cecily Brown. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 2,226,000.00 (€ 2,532,504.97), 48% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Cecily Brown - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Untitled (The Beautiful and Damned), which sold at auction in May this year for USD 6,705,000.00 (€ 6,293,410.93).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 48 % übertroffen
Im März diesen Jahres führte Phillips in London die Auktion 20th Century & Contemporary Art Evening Sale durch, in der auch die Arbeit Skulldiver II von Cecily Brown zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 2.226.000,00 (€ 2.532.504,97) und damit 48% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Für andere Arbeiten von Cecily Brown mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Untitled (The Beautiful and Damned) beobachtet, die im Mai diesen Jahres für USD 6.705.000,00 (€ 6.293.410,93) versteigert wurde.
