Artwork auctioned at four times the upper estimate price
When the work Head of a Man by Cecil de Blaquiere Howard was auctioned at Christies in New York in March 2008, the result exceeded expectations many times over. The upper estimate was set at a - in retrospect quite modest - USD 7,000.00 but the actual price achieved was more than four times as high at USD 28,600.00 (€ 18,095.54). Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Cecil de Blaquiere Howard; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot 'Heavyweight Boxer' sold at auction in May 2003 with the realized price of USD 31,070.00 (€ 26,406.60).
Kunstwerk zum Vierfachen des oberen Schätzpreises versteigert
Als die Arbeit Head of a Man von Cecil de Blaquiere Howard im März 2008 bei Christies in New York versteigert wurde, übertraf das Ergebnis die Erwartungen um ein Vielfaches. Der obere Schätzpreis war mit – rückwirkend betrachtet recht bescheidenen – USD 7.000,00 angesetzt, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis hingegen war mit USD 28.600,00 (€ 18.095,54) mehr als viermal so hoch. Trotz des guten Ergebnisses ist dies nicht der höchste Zuschlag für ein Kunstwerk von Cecil de Blaquiere Howard; den erzielte unter den von uns beobachteten Auktionen die Arbeit 'Heavyweight Boxer' im Mai 2003 mit dem Hammerpreis von USD 31.070,00 (€ 26.406,60).
