Auction result well in line with expectations
The work H.M.S. Hound, Iceland, Winter, 1943 by Eric Erskine Campbell Tufnell was auctioned at Christies in London in May 2007. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 300.00 – 500.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 312.00 (€ 459.13) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Eric Erskine Campbell Tufnell - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work H.M.S. Punjabi In Arctic Waters (Illustrated); H.M.S. Calder In A Heavy Swell; H.M.S. Inconstant In A Convoy; And H.M.S. Welfare Before The Forth Bridge, which sold at auction in November 2006 for GBP 660.00 (€ 980.12).
