Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Design for a ceiling with the apotheosis of the house of Wittelsbach by Carlo Innocenzo Carlone was sold in the Old Master & British Drawings & Watercolours auction at Christies in London in July 2014. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 6,000.00 – 8,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 6,250.00 (€ 7,883.22) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by Carlo Innocenzo Carlone have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work A bozzetto for a ceiling: Merit crowned by Nobility in September 2005 with an auction result of USD 54,000.00 (€ 44,783.55).
