This artwork by Carel Weight achieved an unexpectedly high price at Bonhams in Los Angeles in July this year. In the Modern British and Irish Art auction, the work Portrait of Lord Lambton and Family sold for GBP 8,960.00 (€ 10,453.60) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 5,000.00. Admittedly, works by Carel Weight have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work The Thames at Hammersmith in May 2012 with an auction result of GBP 43,250.00 (€ 53,887.60).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 79 % übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Carel Weight erzielte im Juli diesen Jahres bei Bonhams in Los Angeles einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Modern British and Irish Art wurde die Arbeit Portrait of Lord Lambton and Family für GBP 8.960,00 (€ 10.453,60) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von GBP 5.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Carel Weight auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit The Thames at Hammersmith im Mai 2012 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 43.250,00 (€ 53.887,60).
