A top price for Carel Weight - as previously expected
In May 2012 Christies in London held the auction 20th Century British & Irish Art Day Sale, which included the work The Thames at Hammersmith by Carel Weight. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 40,000.00 – 60,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 43,250.00 (€ 53,887.60) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Even if this result could not surprise positively, The Thames at Hammersmith is the most expensive artwork by Carel Weight that we have observed at auctions so far.

Im Mai 2012 führte Christies in London die Auktion 20th Century British & Irish Art Day Sale durch, in der auch die Arbeit The Thames at Hammersmith von Carel Weight zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 40.000,00 – 60.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 43.250,00 (€ 53.887,60) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Auch wenn das Ergebnis damit nicht positiv überraschen konnte, ist The Thames at Hammersmith das teuerste Kunstwerk von Carel Weight, das wir bisher bei Auktionen beobachtet haben.
