Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%

This artwork by Carel Visser achieved an unexpectedly high price at Bonhams in New York in May 2021. In the Post-War & Contemporary Art auction, the work Dubbelvorm 1 (Double form 1) sold for USD 75,312.50 (€ 61,761.93) - well above the upper estimate of USD 35,000.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Carel Visser; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Dubbelvorm 5 (Double form 5) sold at auction in October last year with the realized price of EUR 94,500.00.

Dieses Kunstwerk von Carel Visser erzielte im Mai 2021 bei Bonhams in New York einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Post-War & Contemporary Art wurde die Arbeit Dubbelvorm 1 (Double form 1) für USD 75.312,50 (€ 61.761,93) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 35.000,00. Trotz des guten Ergebnisses ist dies nicht der höchste Zuschlag für ein Kunstwerk von Carel Visser; den erzielte unter den von uns beobachteten Auktionen die Arbeit Dubbelvorm 5 (Double form 5) im Oktober letzten Jahres mit dem Hammerpreis von EUR 94.500,00.
