The price achieved of GBP 352.50 (€ 576.24) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 300.00 – 500.00. Admittedly, works by Walter William May have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Perilous Situation of H.M.S.V. Intrepid In Baffins Bay - August 2. 1851.; And H.M.S.V. Intrepid Marooned On An Iceberg in September 2004 with an auction result of GBP 2,868.00 (€ 4,178.31).
