Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work A loaded hay barge and other shipping in the Channel by Walter William May was auctioned at Christies in London in November 2007, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 400.00 – 600.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 275.00 (€ 385.07). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Walter William May achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Perilous Situation of H.M.S.V. Intrepid In Baffins Bay - August 2. 1851.; And H.M.S.V. Intrepid Marooned On An Iceberg in September 2004 with an auction result of GBP 2,868.00 (€ 4,178.31).
Intrepid In Baffins Bay - August 2. 1851.; And H.M.S.V. Intrepid Marooned On An Iceberg im September 2004 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 2.868,00 (€ 4.178,31).
