Auction result well in line with expectations
In November 2007 Christies in London held the auction British Works on Paper, which included the work Winchester Cathedral (illustrated); St Croft's, near Winchester; and Westgate, Winchester (illustrated) by John Durrant. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 1,500.00 – 2,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 1,625.00 (€ 2,275.42) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Other works by John Durrant have already achieved higher auction prices, for example, in November 2010 the work Two studies of Dover boats; A hovelling boat, Dover, used for piloting and mackerel fishing; View from South Shields, the banks of the Tyne at low water and people gathering coals (illustrated); A Ride [sic. packet sailing from Portsmouth to Ride s was auctioned for GBP 3,500.00 (€ 4,182.49).
