This artwork by Budi Kustarto achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in Hong Kong in October 2008. In the Modern and Contemporary Southeast Asian Paintings auction, the work Meregangkan (Stretching Out) sold for HKD 350,000.00 (€ 35,601.64) - well above the upper estimate of HKD 200,000.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Budi Kustarto; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Tricycle Ice Cream (Construction Series) sold at auction in April 2008 with the realized price of HKD 847,500.00 (€ 69,844.71).

Dieses Kunstwerk von Budi Kustarto erzielte im Oktober 2008 bei Sothebys in Hong Kong einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Modern and Contemporary Southeast Asian Paintings wurde die Arbeit Meregangkan (Stretching Out) für HKD 350.000,00 (€ 35.601,64) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von HKD 200.000,00. Trotz des guten Ergebnisses ist dies nicht der höchste Zuschlag für ein Kunstwerk von Budi Kustarto; den erzielte unter den von uns beobachteten Auktionen die Arbeit Tricycle Ice Cream (Construction Series) im April 2008 mit dem Hammerpreis von HKD 847.500,00 (€ 69.844,71).
