Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Westward And Susanna Approaching The Turning Mark Off Cowes by Brian J. Jones was sold in the Maritime Art auction at Christies in London in November 2013. The price achieved of GBP 3,750.00 (€ 4,512.62) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 3,000.00 – 5,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Brian J. Jones - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Storming the Cowes Roads, 1930: Astra leading with Westward, Candida, Britannia and Lulworth behind, which sold at auction in October 2008 for GBP 10,625.00 (€ 13,543.06).
