Despite a disappointment, a good price for Brian Duffy
When the work David Bowie, "Aladdin Sane" (Eyes Open) by Brian Duffy was auctioned at Bonhams in New York in October 2021, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 50,000.00 – 70,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 47,812.50 (€ 41,388.94). Despite this disappointing result, David Bowie, "Aladdin Sane" (Eyes Open) is the most expensive artwork by Brian Duffy that we have observed at auction so far.
