Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Brett Whiteley could be acquired at Christies in London in March last year for an unexpectedly low price. In the Modern British and Irish Art Day Sale auction, the work Sketch for Large Monkey Drawing changed hands for GBP 24,000.00 (€ 28,454.70) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of GBP 30,000.00 – 50,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Brett Whiteley achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Australian Opera House in May 2007 with an auction result of AUD 2,880,000.00 (€ 1,770,858.54).
