This artwork by Robert Wilson achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in Paris in October 2018. In the She Was a Giant Collection Bénédicte Pesle auction, the work Einstein chair (Elément de décor pour l'opéra Einstein on the Beach) sold for EUR 42,500.00 - well above the upper estimate of EUR 20,000.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Robert Wilson; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Civil War Act I, II, III, IV, V, 72 works sold at auction in October 2012 with the realized price of USD 56,250.00 (€ 43,409.48).
