Auction result misses estimated price range
In September last year a collector was able to acquire the work Ossis's Dracula, 1972 by Billy Al Bengston for USD 17,000.00 (€ 17,377.08). This price was achieved in the auction Post-War & Contemporary Art X Made In California at Bonhams in Los Angeles and was even below the estimate range of USD 20,000.00 – 30,000.00 set by the auction house. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Billy Al Bengston achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Lester, 1961 in February 2020 with an auction result of USD 548,075.00 (€ 497,120.18).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Im September letzten Jahres konnte ein Sammler die Arbeit Ossis's Dracula, 1972 von Billy Al Bengston für USD 17.000,00 (€ 17.377,08) erwerben. Dieser Preis wurde in der Auktion Post-War & Contemporary Art X Made In California bei Bonhams in Los Angeles erzielt und lag noch unterhalb der von dem Auktionshaus angesetzten Schätzpreisspanne von USD 20.000,00 – 30.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Billy Al Bengston erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Lester, 1961 im Februar 2020 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 548.075,00 (€ 497.120,18).
